Akossa,

I was going through old copies of Nation on Sunday and came across one with your byline. I just want you to know that you are a good writer; keep the fire burning. I am a Zimbabwean journalist who occasionally visits the Malawi embassy to read through the newspapers.

No plans for Christmas,

Akossa,

I write in response to last week’s editor’s note, in which you asked readers to share how their plans for Christmas have been affected by the current shortages.

The forex crisis has adversely affected my business and I have more or less depleted my savings, just so my family and I could make it through the months.

I doubt that we will do anything special this Christmas; it will probably be just another day for us. I feel terrible about it because I would like to make beautiful memories which my children can dwell on when they get older, however, in the current situation, there is not much we can do, except hope and pray that the new year will bring the change we desperately need.

Alefa, Chilomoni
