Controversial Malawian international Khuda Muyaba on Saturday scored his second goal to help Polokwane City earn a vital point against Steenberg United in GladAfrica Championship.

City are now on positon 11 with 14 points, eight below leaders Jomo Cosmos.

This was the 2019 TNM Super League golden boot winner’s second goal after struggling at the club which was relegated to the lower league at the end of the 2020 season.

In a related development, former Flames captain John Maduka on Saturday ended his team Bloemfontein Celtic’s eight-game winless run in all competitions after a narrow 1-0 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at Dr Molemela Stadium.

The game saw Celtic taking the lead with just two minutes into the game after TTM were caught sleeping at the back as Motebang Sera escaped the attention of Tebogo Thangwane and Ayanda Nkili and headed Siwelele in front.

Maduka made a change and withdrew striker Sera and brought on Sifiso Ngobeni at left wingback to shut up shop.

He also made a double change four minutes later as Victor Letsoalo came in for Tchilimbou up front and Boy de Jongh replaced Siphelele Luthuli to strengthen midfield.

Celtic managed to hold on to the lead despite being reduced to 10 men after Ronald Pfumbidzai was sent off for a second yellow card, to see the game out and move up to 12th position in the league.

Meanwhile, Flames striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango returned to action as a late substitute in the Soweto derby.

Goals from Thembinkosi Lorch and Siphesihle Ndlovu guided Pirates to a 2-1 victory over their cross-town rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
