Kidd’s show cancelled

It did not only rain but also poured for Kidd Mkandawire in Mzuzu on Sunday. With less than 10 patrons at his afternoon show at Sunbird Mzuzu’s Boma Park, Kidd discontinued and abandoned the show without performing.

A Mzuzu-based Pamlonga Band, the only outfit which was performing at the show, was also told to stop performing by Kalimba Band leader Vitta Chirwa.

“Due to other reasons we are unable to continue with the show. We will organise another show with good publicity,” Chirwa told the patrons.

This happened after Kidd successfully re-united with his audience at the previous night’s show at the same venue in Kaning’ina Room where he dished out almost all songs from his new album Mafumbo.

In an interview, Kidd expressed mixed feelings at his experience in Mzuzu: “It was great to be back home and perform in front of my family and friends, but I wish we had many patrons. However, it was great to see people cry when I was performing Mwana Muweme last night.”

The show coincided with a three-day Moon-Rock festival at Chintheche Inn, Nkhata Bay.
