Kinnah has confirmed that CAF—through FAM—has exempted him owing to his rich national team coaching and playing experience and the Uefa B Licence he holds.

Kinnah was in dilemma as attending the course from April 1 would have clashed with his club Free State Stars’ fight against relegation in the South Africa.

A CAF A badge qualifies one to manage any team in Africa; hence, it is the most sought-after paper; even foreigners want to attend the course in Malawi.

“Our group will attend the course for only four days, between May and June. We will not join the first group. This works to my advantage as my employers were not going to allow me to leave now,” Kinnah explained in a telephone interview.

He joins the exempted band of current Flames coaches Young Chimodzi and Jack Chamangwana, Gerald Phiri, Bob Mpinganjira, Stan Chirwa, Ernest Mtawali and Patrick Kulemeka, FAM technical director John Kaputa confirmed on Wednesday.

“We have split the coaches into two groups. The first group will cover 240 hours for the course and there are 30 participants. With the coming in of the new names, number of coaches from both groups has risen from 55 to 66.” n
