The Blantyre and Districts Netball League (BDNL) has released round-robin fixtures for the two-day Kombeza Big 4 Netball Bonanza that throws off this Saturday at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).

BDNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie yesterday said the inaugural contest, which will involve the current top-four Rainbow Paints BDNL outfits, will begin with an encounter between Kukoma Diamonds and Prison Sisters at 8:30am before Thunder Queens take on Tigresses at 10am.

Thunder and Tigresses will battle it out in the last match of the day on Saturday

Thunder will have little time to rest as they will be up against Diamonds at 11:30am.

About 90 minutes later, Tigress will face Prison Sisters, who are also scheduled to tussle against Thunder at 2:30pm. The day’s fixtures will wrap up with a potentially explosive match between Diamonds and Tigresses at 4pm.

“On Sunday, the team which will top the table will play against a fourth-placed side at 10am whereas the second-positioned side will be up against the team on third position at 11:30. Losers in this round will fight in a third-place encounter at 1:30pm while winners will battle it out in the final at 3:30pm,” Hanjahanja-Billie said.

The champions will receive K300 000 and runners-up K150 000.

Third-placed and fourth will get K100 000 and K80 000, respectively.

The bonanza will also have individuals awards such as Best Player, Best Shooter and Best Defender.

Kombeza Foods Company managing director Mdingase Tewete said they came up with the K2 million bonanza to appreciate women’s support towards Kombeza Yoghurt products and to help in netball development in the country.
