Kondwani said he won because the course was in good condition.

“The greenkeeper did a good job on the course. I had no difficulties playing my game. I also thank the sponsors for such a well-organised tournament,” he said.

He received  a trophy and a food  mixer as his prizes.

Mokoka was equally excited after winning her first major trophy.

“I’m not good at speeches but this was a day well spent and I enjoyed myself. I thank my playing partners for the encouragement. It was a great day,” she said.

Minet Malawi general manager for operations Lester Chiyang’anya said apart from interacting with the golfers,  the objective of the ball pool was to share new developments with their customers.

“As most of you know, Minet used to be called Aon. We rebranded last November. We are now supported technically by two big insurance brokers in the world Aon and Minet.

“This will result in better and quality services to our clients. We decided to sponsor this tournament to create an interface outside the office environment and thank you for the support you have been giving us over the years,” he said.

LGC captain Medson Roka  expressed gratitude to Minet for the tournament. A field of 46 golfers took part in the ball pool. n
