KU man arrested for ‘sex’ murder

Police in Kasungu have arrested 45-year-old Molen Zikieli on suspicion that he murdered a man he reportedly caught red-handed having sex with his wife.

According to Kasungu Police assistant public relations officer Burton Mathewe, the deceased, 48-year-old Joseph Mazoni, was allegedly in a secret love affair with the suspect’s wife.

“From the look of things, the suspect knew about it [the affair] for some time and wanted to exact revenge. He involved his wife in his heinous plans and the two tricked the deceased into walking straight into his death trap.

“Zikieli attacked Mazoni in his [Zikieli’s] kitchen when the deceased was caught having sex with his wife. After realising that he was dead, the two dumped the lifeless body in a bush near Mwimba Farm Institute to create the impression that the deceased was ambushed there,” said Mathewe.

Zikieli and his wife come from Kwapata Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kawamba in the district, while Mazoni came from Mgulura Village in the same T/A.
