Kudakwashe aims at avenging brother’s loss

Kudakwashe Banda, younger bother to veteran Philemon Nkhakamira-Banda, will face Mussa Mkwanda in a curtain-raiser to the big fight involving Wilson Masamba and Malani Kayuni at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground on March 29.

According to Kudakwashe, he chose Mkwanda because he knocked out Philemon.

“He will have to pay for embarrassing my brother,” he said.

This will be Kudakwashe’s first bout as a professional, having fought in the amateur ranks for some time.

“I want to turn into a professional boxer and I am now daring professional boxers to prove my salt and my first victim will be Mkwanda,” declared Kudakwashe.

New Dawn Boxing Promotions director Mike Chimaliza said they have organised their first fight for this year by lining up the lightweight non-title elimination bout pitting current lightweight king Masamba and Kayuni.

“This fight was already sanctioned by MPBCB [Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board] president Lonzoe Zimba. The boxers signed their contracts on 2nd March,” said Chimaliza.n
