Despite threats of an impending downpour, fans and followers flocked to Blantyre Cultural Centre to witness the restaging of Bambo a Juniyo by Kwathu Drama Group.

The play is Kwathu’s 2010 production and has been to many places in Blantyre such as Blantyre Sports Club and Steers Garden but this was the first time for it to be staged at the cultural centre.

If the laughter, hand clapping and cheering is anything to go by, then surely fans had the fun they were looking forward to.

The show started with traditional performances by Sambang’oma Dance Troupe.

Eric Mabedi (stage name Jakobo), Kwathu’s leader, walking using crutches, made an appearance on stage before the play started, to thank the people for the patronage. He did not fail to crack a joke which had the audience in stitches.

The play talks about the issues that surround the sharing of the deceased estate.

“I had confidence in the whole team and knew they will do their best in relaying the message,” said Mabedi.
