Lab Enterprise Match Play Golf tournament finalists have stepped up preparations ahead of the final showdown set for next Sunday at Blantyre Sports Club.

The pair of Edwin Chipala and Donbell Mandala will face the Hara couple—Stella and Zachariah—in the final expected to be thrilling.

Mandala will be inspired by his trip to South Africa where he watched the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Gary Player Country Club, Sun City in South Africa by virtue of being the champion of the local Nedbank Tournament.

Chipala said his partner’s trip to the rainbow nation for the Nedank Challenge tournament was a timely motivation ahead of the final event.

“Donbell’s trip to South Africa is a big motivation ahead of the Lab Enterprise Match Play final because he will learn some new tricks and we’ll be inspired.

“He is returning tomorrow and then we’ll intensify our preparations for the final showdown. We are very confident of beating the Haras, they won’t stand the heat,” said Chipala yesterday.

On his part, Zachariah said: “We are preparing very well, we are under no pressure at all.

“It has been a long journey and we are looking forward to the final.”

Zacharia said they often talk about the final at home with his better half.

“We offer each other tips on how to approach the game,” he said.

One of the organisers of the tournament Dingaan Chirwa said all is set for the final.

“Those that did not take part or failed to make it into the finals will also have a chance to play in a curtain-raising tournament that will be played on individual stableford format. There will be both the men’s and ladies categories,” said Chirwa.

Lab Enterprise managing director Noel Lipipa said they are happy with the tournament’s progress.

“As sponsors we are excited with the progress and we are looking forward to the final,” said Lipipa.

Lab Enterprise has made strides by becoming a leading supplier of school and laboratory school equipment.

“We want to contribute towards building a Malawi with safe and efficient clinical facilities, and fully equipped school laboratories as well as the development of sports,” said Lipipa.

Apart from golf, the company also sponsors chess and a football team
