Lady Angels join Cezobal
The newly formed Lady Angels basketball team has joined the Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal).
The women’s league, which now has 10 teams, will start in March with a warm-up hoops tournament.
Other teams in the league are defending champions Lady Dynamites, Capital Clippers, Lady Bayonets, Lady Buccs, Lady Bunda Ollivettes, NRC Cheaters, Lady ABC Lions, Premium Tama Ladies and Blue Eagles Ladies.
“The aim of forming this team is to keep improving ladies basketball in Malawi, particularly in Cezobal,” said one of co-founders of the team, Lisungu Banda.
Banda, who is Cezobal vice-general secretary, said currently the team has no sponsorship.
“We are looking for sponsors to improve ladies sports, including basketball to come in and support this cause. Companies that need their products branded may contact us through lisubby@gmail.com or call 09 99 378 275,” said Banda.
Some of the players in the new team are Faith Chikukula, Chikondi Mwakamo, Yvonne Kamanga Evelyn, Dyna Kuthyola, Gertrude Mwandira, Rachael Kumwenda and Mary Immaculate Ngosi.
