Among other things, MultiChoice Malawi sponsored a month-long DStv advert that created awareness about the event, a recording of different television programmes as well as a host for the festival.

The Lake of Stars feature will be aired tonight at 7:30pm in Mashariki Mix programme on Africa Magic Showcase, DStv channel 151.

“This presents Africa a chance to know more about the festival and Malawi in general,” said MultiChoice Malawi marketing manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda.

A television crew from M-Net East Africa was in the country throughout the festival and produced a Malawi food special cookery programme with ex-Big Brother Africa Malawian representative Hazel Warren.

They also covered the Lake of Stars Festival by way of conducting interviews with artists, guests and the Minister of Tourism, Information and Culture Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Among the areas of the M-Net focus was fashion and they captured a showcase as well as interviewing designers involved, such as young couple Mwai and Sheena Namaona, who are currently running a design and fashion business, Nzika Wear.

While also in the country, the crew filmed a travel documentary with Satemwa’s Huntingdon House.

Huntingdon House is a special lodge with an interesting history and it is situated at Satemwa Tea Estate in Thyolo.

While programmes relating to the fashion show, cooking have been featured in recent weeks, main activities relating to Lake of Stars will be on DStv this week.

More programmes related to the festival are scheduled to come.
