The Lilongwe and Districts Netball League (LDNL) has announced that the 2014 season will start on March 29.

The league’s chairperson Charity Malanga said registration fee is K10 000 (US$25).

“Currently, we don’t have sponsors. We are, therefore, requesting those who can sponsor the league to come forward. The girls love the sport and they are playing for passion,” she said.

Last weekend, LDNL organised friendly games at Don Bosco Court which attracted Don Bosco Queens, Area 25 Queens, Blue Eagles Sisters, Splash Queens and Green Sisters.

The league’s defending champions Blue Eagles Sisters won their two games after beating Splash Queens and Green Sisters 34-11 and 21-18 respectively.

Area 25 Queens were the whipping girls. They lost to Splash Queens and Don Bosco 15-6 and 17-16 respectively.

Splash Queens lost 29-27 to Green Sisters while Green Sisters beat Don Bosco 26 -11.

Malanga said the games helped the teams to prepare for the new season.
