Three Lilongwe and Districts Netball League (LDNL) teams are expected to travel to Chipata, Zambia this Friday to participate in the Eastern Province Netball Association (Epna) Tournament.

According to LDNL general secretary Zacharia Kasakula, the invited LDNL teams are Model Sisters, Green Sisters and Splash Queens, but Mchinji Police Sisters will also be at the tournament.

This will be the second time for Malawi teams to participate at the tournament, but the fourth time for LDNL teams to play netball in the province. The first time a Malawi team participated in the Epna was in 2010, when Model Sisters finished second.

In an interview on Monday, Kasakula said Epna has asked them to send three teams to participate in the two-day tournament.

“LDNL is in partnership with some teams in the Eastern Province of Zambia and they invite us when they have tournaments. We also do the same. This time, they have invited three teams from our league and one team from Mchinji. We are happy with the invitation and I hope it will help us to gain some experience,” said Kasakula.
