Dowa South East MP Halima Daudi has called on her constituents to unite and develop the area instead of fighting on party lines.

Daudi was speaking on Sunday during a rally, which was attended by Traditional Authority Mkukula and several People’s Party (PP) officials.

She said as MP, it was of national importance for her to work with the Joyce Banda administration so that her constituency benefits from developmental programmes.

Said Daudi: “We need to work in partnership with government for us to develop as an area. Let’s unite and build schools and bridges, among other things. Let’s emulate the example of the President who is busy working so that the country develops. She (Joyce Banda) has won back donor confidence and Malawi now is a recipient of millions of dollars for the development of this country,” she said.

Daudi, who is Deputy Minister of Health, advised young people in the area to focus on getting education rather than engaging in cultural practices which can ruin their future.

“Government has great plans for the youth, however, we can only benefit if our youths get education,” she said.

PP executive member George Bundaunda Phiri described people of Dowa South East as ‘very lucky.’
