Lilongwe and Districts Netball League (LDNL) has advised netball committees in the Central Region to work together in search of a league sponsor.

LDNL general secretary Zacharia Kasakula said it is the responsibility of all committees to look for league sponsorship.

He said this on Saturday at Lilongwe Community Centre Hall during a meeting with Central Region Netball Committee (CRNC), Central Region Umpires Committee (CRUC) and team officials.

The meeting was aimed at preparing for the league’s second-round to kick off this Saturday.

“It’s a collective responsibility because we all benefit. It’s not only the league committee that is mandated to look for sponsorship. We need all the committees, team officials, including the players to work as a family,” said Kasakula.

An umpire who attended the meeting, Aaron Gopani, commended the league for the initiative.

“It is true we left the responsibility to look for the sponsorship in the hands of LDNL yet the sponsorship benefits all of us. We must applaud the league for coming up with this meeting to highlight the issue,” he said.

The meeting also agreed that umpires who are officiating games should be paid at the end of the league.

Meanwhile, the second-round is expected to start this Saturday with six games.
