LGC to host SDV Ladies Inter-Club golf

The Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) will from today (Saturday) host a two-day SDV Ladies Inter-Club Tournament.

The annual event has drawn teams from Blantyre Sports Club (BSC), Country Club Limbe (CCL), Kasasa Golf Club and the hosts, Lilongwe Golf Club.

Clubs take turns to host the tournament. Seven teams have so far confirmed participation to compete for the prestigious trophy.

According to Lilongwe Ladies Golf captain Stella Ng’oma, the tournament will be played on a 3-Ball Alliance today and 3-Ball Better Ball format tomorrow [Sunday]. Tee off time today is 11am while [on Sunday] they will tee off at 7am.

Ng’oma described the tournament as a unifying event for lady golfers in the country.

“This is one of the competitions that every lady golfer looks forward to annually as it promotes team spirit as we fight for honours for our respective clubs. It is a pleasure that LGC is hosting this tournament this year. I welcome all lady golfers to this wonderful golfing weekend. SDV’s sponsorship this year is awesome and well appreciated by the Ladies Golf Union of Malawi,” said Ng’oma.

On his part, SDV Malawi managing director Roderick Phiri said his firm was once again delighted to host the event.

“This is our contribution in developing the game of golf among ladies. LGC has an excellent 18-hole golf course and we are sure the participants will have fun,” said Phiri.

Apart from the ladies tournament, SDV also sponsors Nchalo and Kasasa invitational tournaments.
