The deceased Patricia Guwe, 12, and Anderson Yohane, 16, both from of Mzondo Kachimbwinda Village, T/A Chitukula, Lilongwe were struck in a maize field.

“The deceased were [allegedly] in a love affair and were chatting in a maize field when rain started falling. Today morning [Tuesday], they were found dead with all signs of being struck by lightning,” said Makalani.

He said parents of the duo reported the matter to police who visited the scene where they collected the dead bodies to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) where a post-mortem confirmed that death was caused by lightning.

Makalani said the deceased were both Standard Six pupils at Dzenza Primary School in the district.
