“Little is being done to develop Likoma yet it has amazing scenery with great tourism. As people who come from the islands, we have lined up events with the hope of fundraising money for the construction of the jetty. The works are now moving into phase two after the community there started the works.

The budgeted amount for the jetty is K30 million ($51,072.5) and the completion of the project depends on the availability of resources, he said.

On Saturday, the grouping organised a fundraising dinner and dance in Lilongwe and Blantyre where among others, different items were auctioned whose proceeds went towards the construction works.
