Likoma Tourism Expo on the cards

The inaugural Likoma Island Tourism Expo has reserved 50 spaces for companies, organisations and government departments to exhibit their services and products to the world. It will be held from October 10 to 12 this year.

The event’s spokesperson Patrick Chikoti said participants are expected to be drawn from travel agents, banking and finance institutions, hospitality industry players, transportation companies, telecommunication firms, construction companies, among others.

Malipenga dance from the island will be part of the expo and festival

This will be the first time the expo will take place on the island and it is expected to attract both local and foreign investors.

The Expo will be held on the sidelines of the Likoma Summer Cultural Festival which will be held from the same Wednesday to Tuesday, October 16 2018.

Chikoti said the festival will incorporate activities such as sightseeing, historical tours, hiking, games, parades, a local food festival, traditional dances as well as music. n
