Bishop Bolu Martins, an internationally-renowned church leader and preacher based in Kanu, Nigeria, presided over the dedication service during which he cut a ribbon, unveiled a plaque, cut a cake and anointed the church’s entrances, the pulpit area and musical instruments with oil.

Adebayor told reporters that after arriving in the country as a missionary eight years ago, he has experienced, first hand, the peace God has bestowed upon Malawi and the freedom of worship the people enjoy.

He said he has a special message for members of Parliament (MPs) currently meeting in Lilongwe amid socio-economic challenges Malawians are facing.

He said: “When we will all be gone [dead], it will be what we have done for the nation that will be remembered.

“So, we want to encourage parliamentarians to go there [Parliament] and place the nation and the people of Malawi first in their deliberations.” n
