Lilongwe City Council has granted Let’s Talk Malawi rights to establish a recreation park on the banks of Lilongwe River.

According to Let’s Talk Malawi host Stella Ndalapa, the development, earmarked to boost leisure of both tourists and residents in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, will involve demolition of the defunct Finance Bank’s buildings by the river.

Ndalapa disclosed that they are courting various companies to develop structural designs for the park.

“We will develop a public park where people can relax with their friends and families. We are inviting all Malawians to take part in designing the park,” she said.

So far, the partners include city council, Malawi  Police Service, Scouts Association of Malawi as well as Ministry of Information and Civic Education.

The final design of the park will be approved by the stakeholders’ committee, said Ndalapa.

Lilongwe City Council director of parks, recreation and environment Martin Kazembe confirmed the coming of the riverside recreation site, known as Tsoka Park.
