The two entities signed the contract which is worth $11 247 676.38 (about K8.2 billion) in Lilongwe last Friday.

MCA-Malawi chief executive officer Susan Banda said the works will strengthen the distribution system and reduce power outages that come with aging infrastructure.

“We are excited to sign this contract because we realise that it will go a long way in ensuring that the two cities have reliable power infrastructure,” she said.

Consolidated Power Projects business unit manager Leon Bushney promised delivery of quality work, adding that with full support from MCA-Malawi and all stakeholders the project will be successfully implemented. n
