Chiwaya might be new if you did not watch the inaugural pop music singing competition; E Wallet show. He was the first runner up of the 2006 edition. He is also among popular singing youth in the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church.

He first launched his solo albums Ndimamukonda and Champion of Love in September last year in Blantyre but due to financial needs, he had to delay travelling to Lilongwe.

“Launching an album is serious business and therefore, I had to be fully prepared before making that bold step to come to Lilongwe. But all the same, it has been nice and I am happy that finally it has taken place. My focus now is Mzuzu soon and other parts of the country,” he said after his launch at Shaeffer in Lilongwe on Sunday.

Ndimamukonda

includes songs like, Anayenda, Tsiku Lobwera Yesu, Mukhale ndi ine, Adapanga Ine and Khala Ndiiwewhile Champion of Love has Mudzi wa Sodomu, Maberu, It Begins With You, Usadandaule, Am Changed and Let Him Try.

“The main reason for a double launch is because I did not manage to launch the first album due to the closure of the French Cultural Centre, now Blantyre Cultural Centre. So I decided to start recording new songs with the aim of launching them together,” explained Chiwaya, who hailed fans that attended the launch.

“In Lilongwe, it is difficult to have a large crowd like the one I witnessed. It was awesome and I owe all this to God,” said Chiwaya.

Patrons to the show hailed Chiwaya’s talent.

“Apart from taking people closer to God through the songs, Davie has rare talent that needs to be supported not only for his benefit but the country as a whole,” said Mable Mwale.
