Limbe CCAP adds colour to Palm Sunday celebrations

Vendors in Limbe central business district (CBD) last Sunday closed their stalls for sometime to join members of the Limbe CCAP Church in celebrating Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday is one of the most important days on the liturgical calendar of different denominations when the faithful celebrate Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem aboard a horse.

Luke 19:36 states that as Jesus rode the colt, followers kept spreading their outer garments on the road to signify their great joy and praise to God for His loving kindness.

Unlike Catholics Presbyterians have been celebrating this day by merely praying and sharing gifts of God’s love within the confines of their churches, but that was not the case last Sunday as members of Katimba CCAP Church (Limbe CCAP Congregation) went round town with a child riding a horse while the multitude and ‘disciples’ sang in praise and worship to God.

Some Christians could not resist the temptation of spreading their garments on the road as their counterparts did thousands of years ago.

Outside Limbe Bus Terminal some minibus drivers, conductors and touts shouted: “Ambuye, tichitireni chifundo ife ana anu ochimwa. (Lord, have mercy on us sinners).”

Limbe CCAP Church associate pastor, Reverend Denis Mulele, described the ceremony as one of the best in the history of their church.
