The event’s organising chairperson Richard Kuwali said the tournament is aimed at fostering interaction among employees.

He siad: “It is an annual event where all departments gather to compete in football, netball and other sports disciplines. This is about building interaction, making friends and sharing experiences. It is an event that every employee looks forward to every year.

“Apart from building interaction the event also promotes the health of employees. Sports promotes health and management is keen to see that its employees are in good health and in that way, they will be productive.”

Apart from the MD trophy,  the company has also been sponsoring  primary school football and netball for 36 years.

This year they invested K11 million in the schools tournament.

Director of legal and corporate affairs Febbie Chikungwa said sports forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility. n
