Limbe Police Station has assured residents of maximum security and safety during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Station officer Kenneth Semani made the assurance on Wednesday on the sidelines of the security executive committee (SEC) meeting held at Police Training School in Limbe.

He said the station has already increased patrols within its areas of jurisdiction to ensure that there are no criminal activities during the festive period.

Semani said such patrols allowed the station to register a reduction in crime rate from 5 662 last year to 5 278 this year.

He said: “We, however, registered an increase in burglary and robbery cases. But the good news is that we apprehended those behind these crimes and they are currently in jail.”

Semani disclosed that police will continue working with community leaders to prevent and curb crime during the whole festive season to ensure there is no loss of property or life.

But he emphasised that residents and community leaders need to actively monitor and report all suspicious undertakings as a preventive measure.

SEC chairperson Mussa Ahamed Lambat assured that his committee will render all the necessary support to Limbe Police to ensure security is beefed during Christmas and New Year period.
