Police in Blantyre recently rearrested Brian Hassan Idi Murula (38) who bolted from Limbe Police Station cells after his arrest in connection with a robbery last month.

Police said Murula was rearrested alongside Matthews Pezani Chimombo Nkhoma (31) in Ndirande Township following a tip off from the public.

Malawi Police Service national spokesperson Davie Chingwalu said people were suspicious of the two who were staying in the same house without a proper source of income.

Said Chingwalu: “During the arrest, the two were found with three laptops, a Samsung cell phone, a Nokia cell phone, an iPhone, television screens and several foreign currencies from Ethiopia, China and Yugoslavia.”

In May, police said they had instituted investigations on the mysterious disappearance of suspected criminals who have been on the law enforcers’ watch list for years.
