Limbe Police Station has reclaimed a trophy in crime reduction after being named the best in in the Southern Region during this year’s second quarter.
The station registered a decrease in crime by 30 percent over the period.
The trophy, which was at Limbe Police Station during the final quarter of 2015 (October to December), was won by Phalombe Police Station in the first quarter of 2016.
Speaking during a media briefing in Limbe on Friday, Limbe Police Station assistant spokesperson Widson Nhlane said the station has reclaimed the trophy because of measures they put in place.
“There were so many things that management put in place for us to achieve this. Among others, we intensified security in our policing area by making sure that officers are on the ground 24 hours a day,” said Nhlane.
Limbe Police Station officer-in-charge John Nyondo said in an earlier interview that the station managed to reduce crimes such as general theft, robberies, house breaking, burglary and theft, theft by trick, assault and grievous harm and defilement.
Limbe Police Station covers two sub-stations of Bangwe and Bvumbwe.
