Black Missionaries’ tour of South Africa might have forced Club Limpopo to delay its first ever show, but revellers should get ready for a thrilling repayment when it finally happens next week.

Situated in Area 36, the club had earmarked to bring the Blacks face to face with jamming machine Skeffa Chimoto and Udalire co-hitmakers Piksy and Maskal on Sunday.

But venue owner Yowasi Vale said in an interview on Tuesday that fans should buckle up for a no less star-studded list of performers when the jam comes to town on Sunday next week.

“Everything was set for the jive this week, but it has been shifted to the following week because the Blacks and Anthony Makondetsa will only be back from South Africa next week.

“Despite the change of dates from October 13 to 20, this is probably the biggest show at Limpopo. Apart from being the venue’s first ever afternoon show, it is full of stars and people should expect an afternoon full of dance. This is in keeping with our tradition as the home of live music in Lilongwe.”

Apart from the reggae and urban music acts, the sundowner will also feature Stanley Mthenga who is renowned for Sena Jive, a fusion of traditional beats from the Shire Valley districts of Chikhwawa and Nsanje, which enjoyed massive airplay on TV Africa in 2002. As witnessed during the Sunbird Sand Festival at Nkopola in Mangochi, Mthenga has embraced acoustic tunes to give his hearers an uncorrupted feel of folk subgenres that make up his fusions—and behind every song is a story that is easy to relate to.

Venues around the capital city have become notorious with scenes of theft targeting fun-seekers’ car, but Vale promises a vast secure car park in the perimeter fence of Limpopo Lodge next door.
