Red Lions and Wizards FC remain the only outfits with a 100 percent winning record in the 20-team ThumbsUp Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier Division following their victories in last weekend’s matches.

Lions remain at the summit of the log-table with 18 points from six straight wins as they thumped Prison United 3-0 on Saturday before beating Neno Medicals 2-1 on Sunday while Wizards are fourth on the ladder with 15 points after winning all their five games, including a 2-1 triumph over Be Forward Wanderers Reserves on Saturday.

Champions Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve, who beat The Boys 3-0 and Nyasa United 1-0 last weekend, are on second position after tying on 16 points with third-placed Changalume Barracks. Bullets have played seven games whereas Changalume have played six.

Changalume and fifth-placed Sable Farming are the other teams yet to taste defeat, but they have drawn one and two matches, respectively.

Lions coach Nelson Chirwa yesterday said they have left no stone unturned in their mission to return to the Super League slot, which they lost for the first time in over two decades after being relegated last season.

“It has not been an easy ride to get to this stage, but we are happy that our determination to get back into the top-flight league is bearing us sweet fruits,” he said.

Wizards’ technical director Peter Mponda said much as they are happy with their impressive run, they still need to up their game.

In other matches last weekend, Changalume beat Tupali 3-1 while Sable thrashed Prison United 5-0 to move a step up to the fifth place with 14 points from six outings.

Nsanama anchor the table with no point after losing all their five matches. Last weekend, they lost 1-4 to Chinamwali Stars.
