Livingstonia Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) has put its weight behind President Joyce Banda’s administration.

But the synod, which was critical of the late president Bingu wa Mutharika’s rule, said Banda faces a daunting task of resolving problems created by bad policies of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Speaking in an interview on Monday, Livingstonia Synod general secretary the Reverend Levi Nyondo said the synod was aware that the country was in a bad state; hence, the need to work with Banda. He said the synod will also pray for Banda.

“First of all we are sorry about the death of Professor Bingu wa Mutharika, our former president. As a nation, as a synod and as Malawians, we have all been deeply touched.

“Coming to the new President Joyce Banda , the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia welcomes her very much. As a synod we are happy because our Constitution has been respected,” said Nyondo.
