Police in Lilongwe have launched a manhunt for five people who allegedly murdered a security guard at SADM Pharmaceuticals in Area 29.
Kanengo Police Station spokesperson Alfred Chimthere said the incident happened in the early hours of last Thursday when the deceased Wilfred Nkhoma alongside three other workmates foiled an attempt by the thugs to loot the premises.
“The criminals were armed with pangas and they seriously assaulted the deceased on the forehead and back.
“But they escaped without stealing anything after the nearby security guards alerted the police who arrived at the scene of crime in time,” said Chimthere.
Nkhoma was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) and post-mortem results showed that death was due to loss of blood.
In Mchinji, police are hunting for criminals that killed 23-year-old Gabriel Mwase Mbili.
Mchinji Police publicist Kaitano Lubrino said the deceased had been reported missing since last Tuesday.
Lubrino disclosed that an autopsy revealed that the cause of death was severe internal hemorrhage secondary to an assault. n
