LL Police recover K2.5 million worth of property

Police in Lilongwe have arrested two suspected robbers who are said to have been terrorising residents of Areas 25 and 49 between September and December last year. Police have since recovered stolen property worth K2.5 million (about $3 818) from the two.

Kanengo police spokesperson Esther Mkwanda said the men were arrested on January 4 at their house in Mgona Township after police investigations following tip-offs from the township.

She identified the suspects as Spacious Mphepo (19) and Harrison Fosi (20).

“The property that has been recovered is valued at K2.5 million and most of them are electronic gadgets such as smart phones, DVD players, laptop computers, cameras, flat screen TV sets and CPUs. Currently, some owners of the properties have already started coming for identification,” said Mkwanda.

Mphepo comes from Ngwale Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kadewere in Chiradzulu District while Fosi comes from Magagula Village, T/A Kwataine in Ntcheu District. n
