Binjangala was whisked away by well-wishers to African Bible College (ABC) hospital for treatment.

National Football Referees Association (NFRA) general secretary Chris Kalichero condemned the acts.

“This is very bad. We condemn this,” he said.

CRFA vice-general Antonio Manda said the attack on the referee was a Police case.

“This has no room in football. When we thought we have done with violence, some still take laws of the game in their hands. This is a police case and we hope the law enforcers will apprehend the suspects,” he said.

Mtsiliza are on position six with 33 points while Lilongwe Veterans are stuck at the bottom of the 20-team table with 15 points.
