Local designs shine at RVK Fashion Week

Local displays at the two-day RVK fashion week last weekend in Lilongwe have left great memories of beautiful collections and garments to watch out.
For two days, Malawians enjoyed a wide range of creations by 10 designers.
Budding designer and former Big Brother Africa Malawi representative, Wati Kulemeka, also displayed his creations of textile.

His designs were detailed, with structural and nice complex designs of prints that look like beads, creating a chitenje that can be cut, mixed or blended with anything.
Also joining Wati on the first day was Mafrika, an ethically conscious brand inspired by vibrant African textile patterns and prints, building a fusion of creativity and expertise across continents.
Nyalisa brand showcased its male focused designs before Uganda’s Sandra took over the ramp.
Celebrated fashion designer Lilly Alfonso sealed off the night with a jaw-dropping showcase of mixing traditional patterns with a Western touch.
About 20 pieces of her creations graced the catwalk with a wide array of colourful creations.
Designer Miss Pearl stole the limelight with her designs which generally target special events like engagement, apart from office and casual wear.
Malawian Adamz Needle also rocked the runway joined by Bonono from Lesotho and Esther from South Africa before Nzika Wear wrapped up everything.
Overall, many promising young local talents showed their creations, which were hailed by fashion enthusiasts. 
