Love your wife as your body

No one has ever done evil things to one’s own body —that is subjecting one’s body to pain and suffering —unless otherwise the person is demon possessed.

Ephesians 5:28-29 says; in this way husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. Verse 33 says: However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect the husband.

The kind of love demanded of a husband to his wife here is sacrificial love whereby the husband is expected to provide for his wife the best of everything as he would have done for himself. No one mistreats one’s body, but takes care of it to the best of one’s capability. The wife must be accorded this type of love which has no limitations.

Husbands are expected to take full responsibility of caring and providing for their wives in their homes and even when she is outside the home doing other errands e.g. schooling etc.

The husband must provide for her need’s, she must be fed properly, making sure food is always available, including some sweet little nothings on top of the basic necessities. This should be done by the husband irrespective of having a wife who is also working. This role must be fulfilled at all times.

The husband must provide shelter for the wife; a home where they can comfortably live together as a family. This responsibility should not be shoved to the wife to go around in search of a house when the husband is busy doing other things. He must take the responsibility of making sure his wife is properly sheltered.

He has another responsibility of making sure the wife is clothed well. Buy the wife clothes. She needs to look nice in clothes bought by the husband. The wife feels loved when the husband surprises her with good and well fitting clothes or takes her shopping.
