Chitheka Family’s launch of their latest 10-track album, Jehova Nyasadabuza (Turn out For My God), at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on Sunday did not turn out as expected as it was marred by low patronage.

In an interview with The Nation, Apostle Enesia Chitheka Lois said the low patronage might have been a result of the rains and that people did not have money following seasonal expenditure.

“But we are happy with how the show has gone. We are hoping that next time we have a show we will enjoy good patronage,” said the musician-cum-apostle.

The family music outfit did not disappoint the handful that had attended as they gave a scintillating performance of their latest songs such as M’chipululu Simofera, Mfuneni and Jehova Nyasadabuza.

The show turned into a praise and worship service as the patrons raised their hands in prayer.

There was nothing lacking from the group’s performance, but two faces from the group, Nyaradzai and Naomi.

But the apostle, who is the group’s ace, said the absence of the two siblings does not mean that they have quit, but rather they are busy with other engagements.

“I am ready to work with anyone. Most of the people that were backing me are sisters, some are my sons while others are just people from my church. So Chitheka will always be there,” said Apostle Chitheka.

Supporting the launch were Faith Mussa, Steve Muliya, Ethel Kamwendo-Banda and Blantyre Charismatic Praise Team, among others.
