Lox 360 grants Bricks historic defeat

Within a year of existence, Lox 360 on Sunday beat Bricks 68-54 in a Go Green Basketball Expo at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).

In the ladies section, Blantyre-based Netters beat Chanco Ladies 27-13 in the finals of the event which Legions of Excellence organised in to encourage youth involvement in environmental conservation such as tree planting.

The 14-basket deficit in the finals of this four-team contest is probably the biggest margin that Bricks have suffered in the last decade.

Bricks’ record of seven Sozobal titles in the last 10 years could not make the one-year-old Nyambadwe Township-based side (Lox 360) feel out of place on the court.

“We were playing against the best team in Sozobal, but we never let inferiority complex take its toll on us. We took the game to them,” said Justin Luwemba, Lox 360 player and owner.

Bricks senior player Weluzani Chingota attributed their defeat to lack of training and absence of some key players.

“We have not been training for the past few weeks due to work commitments and we did not have most of our key players such as Chikondi Mwendera in our squad,” said Chingota.

Crazy Warriors took the third position after beating College of Medicine Lumbricals 29-23.
