Luanar students in climate change awareness
Students from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) on Saturday reached out to nearby Mitundu Secondary School students with an awareness campaign on climate change.
Peter Mkandawire, chairperson of Luanar students working under the banner Students for Climate Change (SCC), said they decided to educate the secondary school students because most of them do not understand climate change and its effects on people’s lives.
The awareness campaign is being funded by Trocare Malawi which is also working with Catholic University of Malawi (Cunima) students on the same project.
Trocare emergency and preparedness officer Phillip Nyasulu said his institution chose to work with university students because they fully understand issues about climate change hence they can easily spread the message to other people such as secondary school students. n
