Luchenza Assemblies of God Church stalls

Construction of Luchenza Assemblies of God Church has ground to a halt because Christians are failing to fund the cost of 1 000 harvey tiles required for roofing.

Quotations solicited from some suppliers indicate that Christians would need about K4 million to finalise the project.

Luchenza Assemblies of God resident pastor Dyson Ntiwe said on Tuesday the project began in 2010 and was scheduled to end between 2012 and 2013.

But Ntiwe said the project is behind schedule because the cost of roofing is proving to be beyond what the faithful can afford.

He said efforts by the fundraising committee to raise money outside the church have proved futile because not even a single person responded to their request for assistance.

“We estimated that the project would be through in three years. Unfortunately, that has not been the case as you can see. We approached so many people, but none came forward to rescue us,” said Ntiwe.

He said out of the 1 000 harvey tiles needed, members have only bought 300.

“Let me take advantage of the visit of Nation on Sunday to appeal to well-wishers and politicians for their assistance in this cause. Please, come forward to assist us. Your help will never be in vain for this is the house of God,” said Ntiwe.
