Local music icon ‘Soldier’ Lucius Banda and his Zembani troops will perform at Big Bullets club house in Blantyre this afternoon to help raise funds for the country’s football powerhouse.
According to Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire, the show has also been organised to market their replica jerseys provided by their sponsor Carlsberg Malawi Limited which are selling at K5 000 (about $14.70) each.
He said the show is scheduled to start at 2pm and charges will be K1 000 (about $2.94) all round.
“Lucius and his Zembani Band have always been there for us in times of need and we have agreed that we’ll not pay him anything, but instead he will get all the proceeds from gate revenue. We are targeting at least K500 000 (about $1 470) from the sales of drinks and jerseys to go towards the operations of the team.
“We are therefore appealing to our supporters and fun lovers to come and patronise the event,” said Mkandawire.
