The band that was famous with slain South Africa reggae legend Lucky Dube will be on a tour of Malawi in May.

The One People band rose from the ashes of pain caused by the tragic passing of their talented and charismatic leader Dube in October 2007.

The band has been rocking audiences with the sounds that made Dube a star around the world.

The group has performed at numerous major festivals in South Africa where it received standing ovations with each performance.

The tour of Malawi will rope in local music king Lucius Banda.

“There is a song in my latest album, Time, which I did with the band called Missing You Lucky Dube. So, as I am launching my DVD, I will host the band so that we can perform the song together. But also, on their own, the group will do the songs they had been doing with Dube,” said Banda.

“We will perform in Blantyre on May 3 at Robins Park while dates and venue for the Lilongwe gig will be known soon as we are finalising some logistical issues. I must say that the band is raring to go and will come in full force with its equipment such as the PA system, among others,” he added.

As part of social responsibility, the band will visit an orphanage while in the country.

“They have asked us to arrange so that they visit an orphanage. Logistically, this will be in Lilongwe, but we are still working on identifying one,” said Banda.

Commenting on the DVD, soldier said it is close to completion.

“Shooting of the remaining three songs for the DVD will definitely be done before the launch date. And I will have to travel to South Africa soon to shoot a video for the song I did with the One People band as it will not be possible for the group to come this side,” he said.
