R’n’B crooner Lawrence Khwisa, aka Lulu, says he is excited to be the new brand ambassador for GOtv.

“I was born and raised in the ghetto. So, I know how tough life can be there, but I made it.

“All I want is that, through the contract, they should get my music, see their potential and work on it other than getting involved in immoral behaviour, including alcohol abuse, which is the order of the day in the ghetto,” he said.

Lulu described the partnership as a big step forward and called on other companies to emulate GOtv’s gesture by making artists in the country their brand ambassadors.

GOtv country manager Vyness Simbi said Lulu was chosen based on his appeal to people through his music.

“Music has always been a powerful tool in bringing communities and brands together. The signing of Lulu as our ambassador will give us the opportunity to bring the GOtv brand closer to Malawians.

“Lulu will be featured in various GOtv campaigns in newspapers and on radio and television. He has already produced a theme song, which will be used in our adverts and communication materials aimed at promoting the brand,” she said.

Other celebrities that have been GOtv brand ambassadors before include netballers Mary Waya and Sindi Simtowe as well as award-winning musician Skeffa Chimoto.
