Fans in Mchinji should brace for extreme fun as the country’s top artists Lulu and Faith Mussa are set to tour the border district next week.

The two musicians, who are best known for their brilliance on the guitars and vocals, are scheduled to perform at Kwidu Holiday Resort on February 27.

They will be joined by Mafilika’s Ernest Ikwanga and poet Robert Chiwamba in what is dubbed ‘Proudly Malawian Art Concert’ produced by a new events firm Nthanda Artworks Dimensions (NAD).

“We are going there with tuned guitars and we expect tuned audience,” Lulu commented ahead the concert.

The Mwachenjera Darling singer, who said he last performed in Mchinji five years ago, indicated in an interview that he was excited about the tour that is expected to attract fans from the neighbouring Zambia.

“It feels good to perform in a different environment and unusual lineup. Ernest and Faith are my friends but we haven’t played together yet, this is the time,” expressed the Lilongwe-based Mathumela vocalist and producer.

Faith Mussa, who is famed for his hit song Desperate, said he was looking forward to perform in Mchinji for the first time.

“I am looking forward to it. I am sure my fans that side will be glad to meet me and interact with my music in person,” he indicated. “The equipment we are using is also brand new [and] we will give them a performance to remember.”

The show will be hosted by Timveni TV personality and Christian rapper KBG, who is also NAD spokesperson.

“This show is just the beginning of a series of events that we have aligned for Malawians; they should be on the lookout because more is coming and the best is what we are bringing,” KBG said in an interview.

He added: “Our aim is to encourage Malawians to love their identity, culture and values. We want Malawians to be proud of who they are and where they are coming from hence our shows will feature artists who do music/art that has a dominant fusion of our cultural values.

Apart from events, NAD also hires out instruments, promotes performances and holds art workshops—sound engineering and management. n
