Lumeta comes third in ITF championship

Malawi’s lawn tennis whizzkid Chisomo Lumeta returned to his base in South Africa on Wednesday after coming third in two competitions of the Junior International Tennis Federation (ITF) tours in Germany and Belgium.

In a Facebook chat on Friday, Lumeta described the tour as a good experience having rubbed shoulders with Europe’s best junior tennis players.

“It has helped me to polish up a few areas and emerging third best is no mean achievement. I lost in the third round, but that is round of 16 out of 64 tennis players. Anyway, that is gone and I am focusing on the next available tournaments,” said Lumeta.

He said in Germany, Anderson Oliver of Australia won the tournament whereas Denys of Ukraine came second whereas, in Belgium, Chung and Oh from Korea Republic came first and second respectively.
