Mabvuto Lungu has been named Big Bullets head coach for Saturday’s TNM Super League second round opener against Mafco FC at Chitowe.

All along, Lungu had been second in command to Lloyd Nkhwazi at the People’s Team.

But Bullets vice-general secretary Kelvin Moyo said yesterday they would like to sample his capabilities as head coach.

However, Moyo emphasised that Lungu will only be incharge for this weekend’s game because a decision on who they have officially hired will be made at a meeting after the game.

Despite that Moyo said this does not mean Nkhwazi is being underrated because both coaches have equal chances of being selected as Bullets head coach.

“Lungu will be responsible for this Saturday’s game only. He had no chance of showcasing his skills as head coach for a long time and, as he is growing, we would like to see his capabilities,” Moyo said.

Bullets are currently at the summit of the Super League table with 32 points after finishing the first round unbeaten in 14 games.

The team is six points clear of second-placed Tigers.
