Lusubilo band set to meet Germany based Andromeda Orchestra

Karonga-based Lusubilo band is set to meet face to face with Germany-based Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra in a musical feast in Malawi.

Founder and promoter of Lusubilo Music Centre, Professor Agnes Kim, said the concert—designed to showcase music and dances of different cultures—will also see Nsanje-based Ulimba cultural musicians performing.

She said the first concert will be at Karonga Museum auditorium next Saturday before performances in the Central and Southern regions.

Said Kim: “Since the establishment of the band a couple of years ago, we have taken part in promoting Malawian culture and fostered relationships between ourselves and the whole Malawi community at large and beyond.

“Therefore, in the same spirit, we organised the music feast where our own youthful musicians meet with the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra from Germany and the veteran cultural Ulimba musicians of Nsanje.”

She said the German orchestras are already in the country having landed through Kamuzu International airport in Lilongwe on Tuesday.

Lusubilo Band has participated in a number of music festivals within and outside Malawi and it has just returned from a music concert in South Korea.
