Lutheran women cheer the sick

The Women’s Guild of the Nambala One Lutheran Church of Central Africa (LCCA) last week visited Thyolo District Hospital where they provided moral and spiritual support to patients and guardians.

Apart from the moral and spiritual assistance, the women donated assorted presents to patients and guardians to lessen their suffering.

Chairperson of the guild Esnath Chapita said the visit was aimed at strengthening faith among patients and guardians during their most trying moments.

Chapita said many Christians lose their faith when going through hard times such as sicknesses and death.

“The loss of faith is made even worse when there is no one to provide moral and spiritual support. One of our responsibilities as a guild is to provide such support; hence, our visit to the hospital today,” she said.

Chapita said the group would continue helping the needy in line with what Jesus Christ recommended in Matthew 5.

Thyolo district health officer (DHO) Dr Andrew Likaka commended the guild for supporting the patients and guardians.
