Barely a month after excelling at the Africa awards, Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) has again been nominated for the prestigious award in the quality and management spheres Best Regional Enterprise by a United Kingdom (UK) organisation.

The International Socrates Award Nomination Committee has nominated LWB in recognition of its excellent business reputation, effective management and constant growth of the enterprise.

Recognised: Chikuni

According to the committee, should LWB scoop the award, its chief executive officer Alfonso Chikuni will be bestowed the title ‘Manager of the Year’ and a personal certificate.

“Lilongwe Water Board was chosen when ranked against the following criteria: Investment attraction, high technologies and quality, professional staff and modern management methods,” reads a communication from the committee signed by executive project coordinator Alexandra Goloyda.

The awards will be presented in Lucerne, Switzerland, during the committee’s Excellence in Quality Conference 2017 on July 3 2017.

“We are pleased to invite you to participate in the event and present your company’s successes to EBA [Europe Business Assembly]  (Oxford, UK) members and partners,” reads the invitation.

Chikuni confirmed his company’s nomination, saying the board appreciates the international recognition it is getting.

Last month, the board was also awarded the Water Utility of the Year Award at the fourth edition of the African Utility Week Industry Awards held in Cape Town, South Africa. n
